Famous People Players
In 1974, Diane Dupuy established a black light theatre company known as the Famous People Players. Today, it is an internationally acclaimed company which has been the topic of several television documentaries. The troupe's life-sized puppets of famous celebrities come to life with the assistance of talented performers, some of whom are developmentally challenged. With the active support of celebrities such as Liberace, Paul Newman and Phil Collins, the company has performed in Las Vegas and on Broadway, and has toured extensively in North America, Bermuda and China. For her work, Dupuy was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 1982. The Famous People Players dinner theatre was founded in Toronto in 1994, and has since been in operation year-round. The company also has a touring troupe that continues to perform Dupuy's acclaimed theatrical productions for audiences around the world.
